IPv6 Rolling Out to All Leaptel Customers by June 1st

As of June 1, Leaptel will have enabled IPv6, the next generation of Internet Protocol, for all existing customers.

If you’re a new customer who joined us after November 2024, you’re likely already using IPv6, as this has been enabled as the default since then.

For everyone else, the change will happen gradually in the background starting May 19th and will become active the next time your router reconnects. There’s nothing you need to do, and in most cases, you won’t even notice the switch as your devices and router likely already support IPv6.

So, what’s the benefit?

IPv6 is designed to replace the older IPv4 system, which is running out of address space. By moving to IPv6, your connection can avoid some of the extra steps and workarounds IPv4 needs, potentially leading to more direct and efficient routing to sites like Google, YouTube, Facebook, and popular streaming services—all of which already support IPv6.
